Oceans in Year 2!

Year 2 have been busy learning all about oceans this term across a few subjects! In English, we've been reading a non-fiction book about blue whales, a topic the children are now all experts in. In groups, the children were given a specific area of a blue whale to write about and together labelled illustrations, wrote captions, questions and statement sentences and drew lovely images to create a big page for our massive class book. The results were brilliant and when put together, the book looks very impressive!

In art, the children used a variety of different techniques to create ocean themed pieces of art, which were then mounted to create amazing ocean mood boards.

With Mr Bridle, the children created clay corals. Using the different techniques taught by Mr Bridle, each child create an amazing looking coral, which myself and Mr Bridle couldn't believe were made by Year 2 children - they were incredible and beautifully detailed!

Then in Geography, we have been learning about oceans and continents and the children were tasked with creating an ocean fact file on the 5 oceans.
We've had a lovely half term learning about oceans and the children should be very proud of all the work they've produced and the information they have learnt!
