Saturday 12 July 2025 Pottery Club Exhibition Congratulations to all of the children in Pottery Club, who exhibited their work on Friday 11th July. The children have all produced some magnificent pieces; from Raku firings and using clay dug out of the Skyswood grounds, right through to the use of decoration methods on slip-cast pots (using resin resist and Jackson Pollock style spattering!). The children's work also featured slab-based totem pole pots, Henry Moore style sculptures, leaf-resist pots, coil pots, cylindrical trinket boxes and even clay models of bearded dragons!

Sunday 6 July 2025 Summer Fair Success! Our Skyswood Summer Fair was as successful as ever, with a fantastic turn out and just a couple of short showers over the course of the afternoon that certainly didn't dampen our spirits. Our children and families enjoyed the class stalls (based on this year's theme of Fabulous Films) along with the Bucking Bronco, Bouncy castle, Tombola, face painting and so much more! A real highlight was the Showtime Circus (linked to the Year 6 film theme of The Greatest Showman). Several children tried out a whole range of new skills and it proved to be a key attraction. The music played, Beatz Dance performed some fabulous routines, and the fun continued long into the evening. A number of children came in fancy dress and congratulations must go to all those who entered the Fabulous Film Cake Competition or the Make a Minion Competition. A big thank you to all of those parents (and children) who helped to set up, run the stalls, and clear up on the Sunday. It was a wonderful day and is always such

Friday 4 July 2025 Stars of the week- Week ending Friday 4th July We were delighted this week to have our Stars of the Week certificates for reception up to Year 5 presented by two former Skyswood pupils, Sam and Lexi. We are incredibly proud of these two former students who are in the sixth form at Sandringham and have proudly represented the school as Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl over the course of the year. We are equally proud that another two former Skyswood pupils, Natalie and Eliana, have been made Head Girl and Deputy Head girl for next year. There was not a Year 6 certificate this week as the Year 6 pupils were out at a Dance Festival and a Gaelic Football tournament.

Saturday 28 June 2025 Sun Shines for Skyswood Sports Day The weather was perfect for this year's Sports Day and our children enjoyed a fabulous 'carousel' of activities in the morning, followed by a range of athletics activities and sprint races (including relays) in the afternoon. Everybody gave their absolute best and Dolphin were the overall winners in a really close finish. Falcon accumulated the most points for the carousel activities in the morning, and won the Carousel Trophy, with Dolphin a close second. Lion shone in the afternoon; gaining most points for the races, relays and athletics activities, and Wolf won the Sportsmanship Trophy. The boys relay team defeated the staff team in the relay and there were some fantastic moments throughout the course of the day; including a great finish to the girls' long distance race, where Iris and Catherine came in together. As always, there was a tremendous level of support from parents and a great number of mums and dads who also showed great speed in their respective races. Well done to all

Thursday 19 June 2025 Year 2's Microhabitat Pictograms! Our summer term science lessons have begun with lots of outdoor learning! We've been exploring microhabitats and the minibeasts that live in them. We visited two areas of the school: the environmental area and the stick area and observed what we could find. The children completed tally charts to record how many minibeasts they spotted in each microhabitat and luckily, they're already tally chart experts thanks to our current maths unit on statistics!

Thursday 19 June 2025 Nadia Finer Author Visit The school enjoyed a special visit from the author Nadia Finer in today's assembly (Thursday 19th June). Nadia is on a softly spoken mission to support shy people (as she was extremely shy when she was at school, and in adulthood). Her wonderful book, Quiet Riot, showcases the stories of many famous people who happened to also be very shy... and there were a few surprises! Beyonce, Lionel Messi, Albert Einstein and Ed Sheeran all overcame their shyness to achieve great success in their fields. The children thoroughly enjoyed the assembly, listened carefully and asked some thoughtful questions. Many of the children have also bought signed copies of Nadia's book!
