Thursday 7 May 2026 Year 6: Musical Madness Life in Year 6 took an electric turn recently when 11 pupils experimented with creating a band. Rehearsing in their own time in small groups, the band came together for a couple of practices before performing 'Our House' by Madness to Mr. Bridle. Mr. Bridle was very impressed with the way the children listened to each other in order to keep time, and the effort they'd put in. Thank you to the small group of singers who helped the band keep on track, and to Baxter who was absent on the day of the performance.

Friday 27 March 2026 Year 6 persuasive writing Year 6 have been learning how to write speeches which persuade others to banish their pet hate to Room 101. We started by looked at the language, vocabulary and structure used in famous speeches, such as Lincoln's Gettysburg address and Churchill's Battle Of Britain speech. Using techniques from these and modern podcasts and speeches, we wrote our own speeches, aimed at adults and our peers. We focussed on the use of conjunctions, modal verbs and statistics and have included rhetorical questions, repetition, emotive language and the power of three to persuade listeners of our arguments. Here are some examples:
