Thursday 19 June 2025 Year 2's Microhabitat Pictograms! Our summer term science lessons have begun with lots of outdoor learning! We've been exploring microhabitats and the minibeasts that live in them. We visited two areas of the school: the environmental area and the stick area and observed what we could find. The children completed tally charts to record how many minibeasts they spotted in each microhabitat and luckily, they're already tally chart experts thanks to our current maths unit on statistics!

Thursday 19 June 2025 Nadia Finer Author Visit The school enjoyed a special visit from the author Nadia Finer in today's assembly (Thursday 19th June). Nadia is on a softly spoken mission to support shy people (as she was extremely shy when she was at school, and in adulthood). Her wonderful book, Quiet Riot, showcases the stories of many famous people who happened to also be very shy... and there were a few surprises! Beyonce, Lionel Messi, Albert Einstein and Ed Sheeran all overcame their shyness to achieve great success in their fields. The children thoroughly enjoyed the assembly, listened carefully and asked some thoughtful questions. Many of the children have also bought signed copies of Nadia's book!

Friday 13 June 2025 Year 3 Explore the Ver Chalk Stream Our Year 3 children enjoyed a fantastic trip to explore the chalk stream in the River Ver. This was part of their geography topic on Rivers and, thanks to volunteers from the River Ver Society, they had the opportunity to identify several invertebrates found through kick sampling, as well as having a very informative walk to focus on key features of the river and its surrounding environment. In the afternoon, the class enjoyed a short wade in a shallow stretch of chalk stream and will now create some water-colour paintings of river landscapes as part of the follow-up from a wonderfully exciting day out!

Tuesday 3 June 2025 Year 6 enjoy Activity Day at Plas-y-Brenin Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed a fabulous day at Plas-y-Brenin today. Unfortunately, due to wind and water levels, it was not safe to do the paddleboarding. However, the contingency activity of orienteering proved extremely popular and, alongside their abseiling and climbing, ensured a fabulous day for all. We were fortunate to enjoy dry weather for the vast majority of the day, and pleasant spells of sunshine. The children were fantastic, with many coming out of their comfort zones to really excel on the climbing walls and abseil tower. here are a few photos capturing the activities of the day;
