Year 6 go to Crucial Crew
Year 6 participated in Crucial Crew at St. Albans Fire Station on Thursday. The workshop, run by the St Albans Community Safety Partnership, covered a range of safety aspects in and out of the home.
The aim of the event was to provide a fun and stimulating environment for children to learn to:
- become more aware their personal safety;
- learn how to react correctly to dangerous and threatening situations;
- understand the role the emergency support services play and how and when to contact them;
- be aware of their own actions and the safety of others.
Every child visits scenarios where they are taught valuable safety messages. These included: spotting potential fire hazards; safety around bodies of water such as lakes and the sea; railway line safety; first aid and emotional wellbeing/mental health with Herts MIND Network.
