Year 6 perusasive writing
Year 6 have been learning how to write speeches which persuade others to banish their pet hate to Room 101. We started by looked at the language, vocabulary and structure used in famous speeches, such as Lincoln's Gettysburg address and Churchill's Battle Of Britain speech. Using techniques from these and modern podcasts and speeches, we wrote our own speeches, aimed at adults and our peers. We focussed on the use of conjunctions, modal verbs and statistics and have included rhetorical questions, repetition, emotive language and the power of three to persuade listeners of our arguments.
